MERRY KIX-MAS!

Hey there, Wasabi fans!  We hope that you're having a very merry Holiday season!  2012 has been a fantastic year for the House of Wasabi, and we're so grateful to all of our friends who have come along for the ride!  None of what we've accomplished could be done without you guys. Seriously, you guys are the best.

Why so mushy?  Because, dear friends, KIX-mas has officially SOLD OUT (there are a limited amount of tickets to left, so if you still haven't gotten yours, hurry over to Rams Head LIVE's website before they're all gone)!

As of this morning, over 1200 tickets have been purchased.  And YOU made it happen!  We can't thank you enough, and we promise we're going to deliver one of the best Wasabi shows you've ever seen!

This promises to be the BIGGEST, BADDEST show of the year.  KIX became Baltimore's hard rock band in 1981 when they signed with Atlantic Records. They reached critical and commercial acclaim when their album BLOW MY FUSE went platinum in 1988.  Their song "Don't Close Your Eyes" peaked at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the singles "Blow My Fuse" and "Cold Blood" generated popular music videos filmed at legendary B-more nightclub, Hammerjack's. So you can believe that whenever these boys-done-good come home to Maryland, it is a guaranteed good time!

A major portion of the show's proceeds will be donated to the Show Your Soft Side animal abuse awareness campaign.  On November 3, 2010, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake signed the Anti-Animal Abuse Commission into law with the goal of helping the city prevent and prosecute animal cruelty, including dog fighting.  "The [Show Your Soft Side] campaign puts forth ... a message that subtly shows that 'being a man' has many facets to it, including a 'soft side' when it comes to animals... Featuring acknowledged hard men of Baltimore with their pets, the campaign’s posters, billboards and print ads make the point that only a punk would hurt a cat or dog."

Doors open at 8:00PM, with Wasabi going onstage at 9:00PM. Get there early to secure a place in the front row!  See you there!

Fallen Blue

The Wasabi brothers have always had close ties to law enforcement. Wasabi bassist Jay Hitaffer has protected and served for 10 years; first in Baltimore city, and then later in the town of La Plata.  Choosing to put your life on the line for the sake of community and those around you is a unique calling.  It can be demanding, exhausting, perhaps even terrifying.  But there are those in the world who meet those elements head on, and in doing so strive to make the world a safer place.

That is why Wasabi has teamed up with the good people of Fallen Blue, a non-profit organization that uses music to raise money and awareness for the families of fallen police officers.  Formed in 2010, Fallen Blue provides support, both emotional and financial, for the families of officers killed outside the line of duty.  Their goal is to aid the mourning families during their time of need, helping them cope with the loss of their beloved officer as well as honoring his or her memory.

On November 10th, join Wasabi at the Recher Theatre in Towson as they open for rock heavy-hitters Don Dokken, Mandi Lion, King Belvedere, and many others! This fundraising event will be hosted by Twisted Sister' drummer, AJ Pero.

Tickets for the event are $20 at the door, and we have Meet-n-Greet VIP Laminates for $45. Doors open at 1:00 PM with Wasabi scheduled to go on at 2:00 PM.  Please join us for this awesome show for such an amazing cause!

MARR & Wasabi Team Up in the Fight Against Muscular Dystrophy

The Wasabi Bros have done a lot of benefit shows in their time, and have included a variety of causes, from finding a cure to juvenile diabetes to spreading animal abuse awareness.

It is a firmly held belief by all in the House of Wasabi that compassion and goodwill are just as essential to Rock 'n Roll as loud music and frosty beverages.  In fact, Wasabi has performed at over 100 benefits in the last fifteen years!

So naturally, when our friends over at Mid-Atlantic Rock Reviews invited Wasabi to join forces for their first annual MARR Rocks for MDA Concert, the boys were excited and honored to be included in such an important event (read Kemo's letter here).

MARR Rocks for MDA will take place at the American Legion Post 60 in Laurel, MD on Saturday, October 6th.  Admission is $10 at the door, and all proceeds will be donated to the Muscular Dystrophy Association to help combat this devastating disorder that affects 400-600 children every year.

This show has been over six months in the making, and will feature TEN of Maryland's finest local bands to keep you rocking all day and all night long!  Wasabi will be taking the stage at 9:00PM to perform their FULL SET!

We believe that Rock 'n Roll can change the world, and we sincerely hope to see you this Saturday!

A Personal Message from Kaptain Kemo

Summer of 1989... this was my first benefit concert.  MDA [Muscular Dystrophy Association] Summer Camp Highroad.  What an incredible experience!  The most grateful kids I have ever played for.  Because of the handicapped inaccessibility of venue's in the 80's, children in wheelchairs never got the chance to go to a live rock concert.  This was the only concert they saw their entire lives!  It was a true honor!

And so my fellow SAMURAI... 23 years later, the fight goes on...

I ask you to join WASABI on Saturday, October 6th - 8PM at the American Legion Post 60 in Laurel, Maryland.  Come out and be part of a GREAT THING!

-Kemo

Wasabi Rocks the Charm City Devil's Record Release Party!

It's been a long while since we've seen the record industry show an interest in the bands of Baltimore. With the recent rise in amazing talent coming from Maryland, we (the struggling musicians) knew it would only be a matter of time before the recording industry started looking our way again. With that being said, the Spiciest Band of Brothers on the East Coast are excited to be a part of the momentous occasion.

Charm City Devils was founded by singer/songwriter John Allen (formally of SR-71), and includes Anthony Arambula (bass), Jason Hesier (drums), Victor Karrera (guitar) and Nick Kay (guitar). The band was first signed to Eleven Seven Music in 2009, and were christened the Charm City Devils by Eleven Seven Music Chairman and Motley Crue bassist, Nikki Sixx.

Fast forward to 2011, during which Charm City Devils embarked upon a new partnership with the label Fat Lady Music (who also signed the alternative metal band Egypt Central).   Charm City Devils will be releasing their greatly anticipated album under their new label with an awesome show at the Recher Theater!

The Wasabi Brothers are pumped to be kicking off the evening's entertainment for the Charm City Devils, which includes other great Baltimore Sound Management acts 10 Blade, Yesterdays War and Carbonstone.  It's going to be an explosive night, and Wasabi can't wait to light the fuse!

Don't miss Wasabi and the Charm City Devils at the Recher Theatre Saturday, April 21st. Doors are at 6:30pm with Wasabi taking the stage just before 7pm.  Contact a Wasabi Street Team Member or Band Member to reserve your ticket. This show is ALL AGES, so bring everyone!  See you there!

**JUST ANNOUNCED!  Put on your dragon shirts, Wasabi Peas!  Wasabi's set will be filmed by a professional video crew for an upcoming MUSIC VIDEO!  Don't miss this opportunity to appear in Wasabi's first music video!  We hope everyone in the House of Wasabi will be there to represent!
